Uxbridge Personal Trainer Gets Annika's Trainer to Reveal His Top 6 Golf Training Tips

Recently, I had the opportunity to attend an international fitness conference in Orlando, Florida.  I was the only Uxbridge personal trainer on hand, and only one of three Canadians.

It was here that I had the privilege of listening and speaking to a legend in Golf Training, Kai Fusser, Director of The Annika Golf Academy.

As an Uxbridge personal trainer, I have certainly seen many clients that want to improve their golf game, realizing that physical fitness might be their biggest handicap.

Kai Fusser was one of the trainers primarily responsible for the golf fitness craze:  Golf is now seen as a sport, golfers as athletes.  The success of Annika Sorenstam on the women’s side and Tiger on the men’s side has been a powerful lesson for golfers aspiring to better their golf game.

In speaking with Kai, it was reaffirming to me that we shared many of the same training philosophies that I have utilized with my Uxbridge personal training clients.  In the last year, two of my Uxbridge golf training clients have gone on to achieve their best results in golf:

  1. Gail Pimm had 3 top ten finishes at the Ontario Women’s Amateur Level, including a win at the Scarborough District Championship.
  2. Jacob Scriven earned his CPGA tour card!

As an Uxbridge personal trainer, I do not count medals or championships – that credit goes to the athlete.  Congratulations Gail and Jacob!

Just as an athlete looks to improve , I do the same as a coach year, investing in coaching from the best in the industry so that I can continue to provide my clients with superior results.

I managed to get Kai Fusser to reveal his top 6 Golf training secrets and how to train for golf:

  1. The Base – It is important to have a solid stance, to feel the ground, a good connection and dynamic legs.
  2. The Axis – Rotating around your center is a fundamental movement pattern that you must master.  You must be aligned and stacked for performance and injury prevention.
  3. The Core – You must pull abs in and up every time, training your core with movement and to accomodate change in direction
  4. Power Flow – Learning to let the forces travel without tension as you turn around the center is required for a pure swing.
  5. Perfect Practice – If you want there to be a transfer from the gym to the course, you must ensure that every repetition has a purpose.
  6. Mental – Goals create action.  Everything starts with the right belief system.  You must train this.

How are you doing?  If you’re looking to take your golf game to the next level, I can help you get yourself and your golf game in shape as I have proven with my Uxbridge personal training clients.

Bad Habits Your Kids Need To Break Now

Even if you don’t have kids, these might still apply to you. Read on and see for yourself…

Too much T.V. and video games – It’s recommended that kids shouldn’t be on front of a screen for more than 2 hours per day. Cutting the time spent inside watching T.V. and playing video games means more time out with their friends, playing football, climbing trees – doing active things that keep them healthy.

Junk Food – The first thing kids do when they get home from school is raid the cabinets. Naturally they’ll go for the candy or the potato chips. But if you’re not buying these foods, then they won’t be there for your kids. A simple one to solve.

Copying negative role models – In short you need to practice what you preach. Telling your kids to live a healthy life is sending a mixed message if you don’t do the same. Lead by example.

Obviously, as a parent it’s up to you to help your kids break these bad health habits. The earlier you start, the easier it will be. So start today!

Still looking for something that your child may be interested in doing?  If you’re kids are like mine, you’ll understand how hard it is to get them involved.  We’ve tried all the typical sports like hockey and soccer but it just wasn’t for them.

Our oldest loves baseball but it’s only keeping him active in the summer.

We’ve also offered lacrosse, skiing, mountain biking and still…they just want to play and do different activities, not just one.  They get bored doing the same week after week.

So I did some searching and  I think I may have found what we’ve been looking for.  Kid Fit Cardio is a program created just for kids!  It’s non-competitive, non-sports-specific, full of different acitivities and designed to help kids learn while they are keeping active …….AND it’s coming to Body Fit.

Over the next few weeks we will be putting out information for parents.  Our instructors are super excited, as am I, because this is the coolest program I have ever seen for kids.  In the mean time, you can check out the program here: Kid Fit Cardio

If you want more information and to become eligible for a special discount on the program, make sure you put your contact information into the form after clicking the above link.

3 Questions You Should Ask Before Buying Supplements…

Understandably, there is a lot of skepticism and confusion about the quality and efficacy of food supplements.

For decades, many nutritionists told us unequivocally that supplements were not necessary, and that eating a balanced diet of whole foods supplied us with all the vitamins and minerals needed.

In the last decade, however, this party line has crumbled under the tremendous weight of scientific evidence to the contrary.  Now, most nutritionists commonly recommend supplements to their clients to fill gaps in nutrition.

Yet, unlike prescription drugs, the supplement industry is not regulated by the government.  So what does that mean to you as a consumer and product user?

Quite simply, buyer beware!

All supplements are not the same.  And as supplements have become a billion dollar industry, there has been no shortage of  folks starting there own supplement company, eager for their slice of the pie.

The sad truth is that very few supplement companies put your welfare ahead of their profits. This means that the quality of the products is often compromised.  What’s sadder still is that most consumers don’t know the difference, choosing to wrongly believe that all supplements are the same.

From personal experience, I can tell you that 90% of supplements out there don’t do anything, though some actually do more harm than good (ephedra etc).  I’ve been fooled by magazine hype and wasted my share of money on supplements that failed to deliver on promises. As it turns out most fitness magazines are actually owned by supplement companies.  Interesting.

These are 3 questions that I think you should ask (and know the answers to) before you buy food supplements for yourself or your family:

  1. Is there sound scientific rationale for the products?
  2. Were sound manufacturing standards used in the making of the products?
  3. Is there evidence that the products work?

If you ask these questions, compare the completeness and balance of the products, and read the published studies of independent scientists as I have, I am confident that you will discover that Shaklee Canada is a different kind of company.

For more than 53 years, Shaklee has been at the forefront of scientific research into food supplements, and provided safe products of proven benefit and high quality.  I was so impressed by the quality and integrity of this company and its products that I became an independent distributor of Shaklee.  Once you’ve done your due diligence, I’m sure you’ll see the difference, or at least think twice about what you put in your body each and every day:)
