Sprockids Program

What is SPROCKIDS?

Widely known as the ‘Two Wheeled Approach to Self Esteem’, SPROCKIDS teaches more than just mountain biking skills. Cycling has all the elements young people are drawn to. It provides a positive focus for our youth, and brings communities together around the benefits of cycling. This program focuses on all the positive aspects that we hope to instill in young people, and the catalyst is mountain biking. Students learn basic maintenance and care of their bikes. Other sections focus on safety, health, nutrition and fitness while future lessons will teach young people about our environment and their part in preserving it. CCA SPROCKIDS National Introduction to Cycling Program develops young people’s self-esteem, empathy for others, anger management skills. It provides kids with a strong feeling of belonging to a positive group while introducing them to a healthy activity they can be involved with for the rest of their lives.

It addresses the basic needs of youth to belong to a group and feel a collective sense of security and power. This develops self-esteem. Young people have the opportunity to come together to train and develop their cycling skills. Throughout the program the concept of FUN is never forgotten. This is not a program of pass or fail. The participants enjoy a feeling of success on all levels.

Body Fit has affiliated with the CCA (Canadian Cycling Association) in order to bring this program to the youth in the area. By establishing this partnership, the camps are fully covered under the CCA’s insurance umbrella and the camp leaders are trained accordingly. Body Fit has also implemented this program into a festival that may be offered at your child’s school. The festival is geared towards grade 4 thru 8 and can be run with or without bikes. For information about the festival please contact us.
