WHY KID FIT CARDIO FOR MY CHILD?
Kid Fit Cardio™ is a first of a kind program in North America. This unique concept has been specifically designed to promote a healthy lifestyle for children by improving their fitness levels and encouraging them to choose healthy foods. Physical activities generally fall into three categories: aerobic/endurance, flexibility and strength. Kid Fit Cardio™ addresses all of these different areas through activities such as stretching, skipping, punching, running, jumping, push-ups, sit-ups, leg raises, and kicking.

Mighty Mites
Kid Fit Cardio™ offers a beginner introduction program for children ages 4-7 called Kid Fit Cardio™ Mighty Mites!
What is taught in Mighty Mites?
This program teaches children the importance of exercise in a fun and exciting atmosphere with qualified instructors. We teach the basics for kicking, punching, running, jumping, and other core exercises. Children begin to learn the skills for balance, agility, mobility, strength, speed and flexibility through fun games and other activities. Children are introduced to fitness in a fun and welcoming environment that includes games as well as group, individual and partner work. All exercises are done to high energy music so that the children learn that FITNESS IS FUN!
How often are the classes? How long are the classes?
Each individual location of Kid Fit Cardio™ may decide when to offer Mighty Mite classes throughout the year but are typically 12 weeks in duration. Classes are 35 minutes in length with a warm-up (often a fun fitness-related game), a skill-set (where children learn new techniques), the core portion of class and then a cool down and stretch.
What do the children receive in the class?
Children in the Mighty Mite program receive a student manual that introduces them to our Kid Fit Cardio™ Characters, who then lead them on an adventure to learn all about healthy eating and exercise. Each child also receives a t-shirt (first time participants only) and a certificate at the end of the 12 week sessions (should they attend 70% of classes).
Can my child do the Mighty Mite program more than once?
A child can complete the Mighty Mite program as many times as they wish to while they fall under the age grouping of 4-7. Every time the course is run it will be slightly different, and the children will continue to learn new things and perfect the skills they have already learned. Once they reach age 7 the instructor will suggest that they move on to the standard Kid Fit Cardio™ class and then to the Boot Camp class.

Kid Fit Cardio™
Kid Fit Cardio™ offers a core program for children ages 8-14 that want or need to become more active in a fun and non-competitive environment.
What is taught in Kid Fit Cardio™?
Children learn the movements needed for core strength, agility, mobility, balance, coordination, speed and flexibility. They begin to learn techniques needed for combinations of punching, kicking and footwork – all in a fun environment. This class is done to very high energy music. The children work as a group and with partners to develop new skills and continue to enjoy fitness as a part of a healthy lifestyle.
How often are the classes?
These classes are 35 minutes in length and include a warm-up, core material, cool-down and stretch. Each individual location decides when and where they will offer different levels of classes.
What do the children receive in class?
Children in the Kid Fit Cardio™ program receive a student manual that teaches them the importance of healthy eating and exercise as a part of an all-around healthy lifestyle. The manual includes goal setting, attendance and fitness test tracking sheets to make the program interactive for the children. Children also receive a student t-shirt (first time participants only) as well as a certificate at the end of the 12 week sessions (should they attend 70% of classes).
Can my child do the Kid Fit Cardio™ program more than once?
A child can complete the program as many times as they wish to while they fall under the age grouping of 8-14. Every time the course is run it will be slightly different, and the children will continue to learn new things and perfect the skills they have already learned. Once they have learned all of the techniques the instructor may suggest that they move on to the more advanced and challenging Boot Camp class.

Kid Fit Cardio™ Boot Camp
Kid Fit Cardio™ offers a fun and very challenging Boot Camp class for students ages 8-14 that have successfully completed the Kid Fit Cardio™ 12 week session and are invited by their instructor to the Boot Camp program. This is a high intensity class that focuses on working up a sweat in a fun, boot-camp type environment.
What is taught in the Boot Camp class?
The Boot Camp class allows children to work together as well as individually on circuits and exercises that combine all of the skills learned in Kid Fit Cardio™ as well as more advanced exercises that challenge them each and every class. Children will continue to learn techniques of kicking and punching as well as more advanced combinations and footwork patterns. Students are taught more intense exercises that combine running, jumping, skipping, push-ups, crunches, burpees, leg raises, knee-ups and so forth. Children will see great improvement in speed, agility, coordination, balance, flexibility and overall fitness levels.
How often are the classes?
Boot Camp classes are offered two to three times per week depending on the individual location. Class range in length from 35-45 minutes and run for 12 week sessions.
What do the children receive in class?
Children in the Boot Camp class receive a student manual that is very interactive. Children spend time completing missions on respect, teamwork and perseverance as well as tracking of extra-cirricular activities, designing of their own obstacle course, weekly class log journals as well as goal setting, attendance and fitness test tracking. Children also receive a class Boot Camp t-shirt (first time participants only) as well as a certificate of completion at the end of the 12 week session (should they attend 70% of classes and complete all assignments).
Can my child do the Boot Camp program more than once?
A child can complete the program as many times as they wish to while they fall under the age grouping of 8-14. Every time the course is run it will be slightly different, and the children will continue to learn new things and perfect the skills they have already learned.
In all of our programs each child receives a student t-shirt, manual and certificate of completion.

FAQs FOR PARENTS & KIDS:
Do kids really like Kid Fit Cardio™?
Yes. All the kids that have participated in the program have enjoyed it. Kid Fit Cardio™ is unique and different than anything else on the market. Kid Fit Cardio™ allows kids to exercise along with high energy music in a fun environment that stresses setting goals and gaining confidence instead of competition. The instructors are high energy and great with kids. Each exercise is about reaching a personal best and having fun doing it. Our retention rate for children returning for a second session is over 90%!
Is this just a martial arts program?
Kid Fit Cardio™ is not a martial arts program. This unique exercise program combines fitness with some martial arts activities in order for the children to have fun and get the desired heart beat at the same time. Martial art type exercises include learning how to properly kick and punch hand targets and body shields. At no time will the children be “fighting” one another or an instructor. There will be no breaking of targets and no belts awarded. The martial art exercises that were chosen for inclusion in the Kid Fit Cardio™ program were specifically chosen because they have a fitness component and are fun for kids.
My child is overweight, how do I know he will fit in?
We have many children who participate in Kid Fit Cardio™ who are not in prime athletic shape. The purpose of Kid Fit Cardio™ is to get all children (athletic or not) more active. There is a major obesity problem facing today’s youth and Kid Fit Cardio™ is designed to help combat that challenge. The activities and exercises are structured so that children can start off slow and gradually build to a level of fitness which suits them. At no time will someone who is overweight be pressured into doing an exercise they are not comfortable with. Kid Fit Cardio™ is also structured to teach children how to make proper food choices in order to help combat overeating.
Are the instructors trained at all?
Kid Fit Cardio™ instructors are trained and certified through head office. At no time will an instructor be teaching the children who has no fitness background. Each instructor is screened and has a police background check to ensure the safety of the children.
Will we get to meet the instructors and other kids in the class before the class starts?
At the beginning of each 12 week session there is a 45 minute-1 hour long class in which the parents and their children are encouraged to come out and meet the instructors and the other children. At this time the program will be explained in detail and any questions or concerns can be answered.
My child doesn’t like sports, is this just off-season training for athletic kids?
Kid Fit Cardio™ realizes that many children do not like participating in organized sport. The participants in the program are athletic and non-athletic children together. For those kids that are involved in athletics we have our specific Athletic conditioning class as a way to keep in shape in the off-season and improve overall conditioning along with balance, speed, agility, coordination and flexibility. At no time will the standard classes focus on an organized sport or any of the skill development required to play sports.
Other than exercise, what does Kid Fit teach the kids?
Kid Fit Cardio™ is uniquely designed to teach children the many components that make up a healthy lifestyle. This of course includes exercise, but it also involves teaches them proper nutritional guidelines and how to eat proper food and good portions. We also stress exercise and hydration through our Kid Fit Cardio™ water bottles that are available for purchase through participating locations. Kid Fit Cardio™ also believes that its program teaches kids discipline and social skills. The program also has a unique aspect called Envirokids which is aimed at teaching children how to respect the environment. All of these aspects comprise a healthy lifestyle.
What is included in our registration fee?
Included in a child’s enrolment fee is a Kid Fit Cardio™ t-shirt and manual/workbook. This workbook includes games, attendance sheets, goal setting charts, fitness evaluation forms, and tips on having a healthy lifestyle. The fee includes 12 weeks of classes. Every child receives a Kid Fit Cardio™ certificate at the completion of the 12 week session along with a report card detailing their progress. Each level of the program is unique from its student manual (and the activities included within it), the certificates, the t-shirts and of course the class curriculum and what is taught in each class.
How often do these programs run?
Kid Fit Cardio™ programs are offered at most clubs and facilities 3-6 times a year for 12 weeks each session. It is best to contact the facility closest to you to find out times and schedules.
What if one child in the class is better athletically than the others?
There are always going to be children that are more athletic than others. The unique thing about Kid Fit Cardio™ is that the exercises are designed so that athletic and non-athletic kids can work out side by side. The instructor will choose different levels of the activities that best suit the individual child. If a child is too advanced for a certain class level, the instructor will suggest to the parent(s) that the child move up to a different level of class to challenge him/her more.
Are there levels involved in Kid Fit Cardio™?
The program is structured so that after a child has completed the 12 week session they can sign-up again for an additional 12 weeks in the same class, or they will be offered a more advanced class. Children are taught new exercises and advanced techniques for the beginner exercises they learned in their first class. The child receives a different manual and a different certificate for each class level (Mighty Mites, Kid Fit Cardio™, Boot Camp or Athletics – although we will not be doing the Athletics program yet). Each individual location decides when and where they will offer different levels of classes – so check with the facility closest to you for more information. Do boys and girls take the same classes?
Boys and girls will participate in Kid Fit Cardio™ side by side. Again, should one child not feel comfortable with a certain exercise than the instructor will adapt the activity to suit the individual needs and abilities.
Does Kid Fit Cardio™ qualify for the child tax credit?
Yes! The Kid Fit Cardio™ program does qualify for the Canadian government’s 5% child tax credit.

I own a fitness facility and I am interested in becoming a Kid Fit Cardio™ certified location. How can I get more information?
Kid Fit Cardio™ is a full-scale licensee program. Any individual or business in the fitness (or related) industry can become a certified Kid Fit Cardio™ licensee. Simply fill out the “Request More Info” form on our website and one of our representatives will be in contact with you shortly to give you the information you require to decide if Kid Fit Cardio™ is right for you. Remember Kid Fit Cardio™ offers exclusivity to licensees so there can only be one registered licensee in each region!
I don’t own a fitness facility, but I would love to teach Kid Fit Cardio™, is there a way I can become involved?
Yes. You don’t have to own a fitness facility to become a certified Kid Fit Cardio™ licensee. We have current licensees that have a love for fitness and for helping the youth of their communities live a healthier lifestyle, without owning a fitness facility. Some current licensees choose to rent space such as a gym, community centre, arena or church space to run Kid Fit Cardio™ classes from in their exclusive regions. Other licensees have their own facilities and run programs from there. The program has such low start-up costs that individuals as well as businesses can afford to run the program!
Are there large start-up costs for running the Kid Fit Cardio™ program?
Kid Fit Cardio™ was designed so that anyone wishing to help the youth of their communities who also has an interest in fitness can certify and teach Kid Fit Cardio™. With this in mind, headoffice has kept the start-up costs very low for licensees. For more information, please contact us.

The Kid Fit Cardio program is a fabulous way to motivate young girls to develop a liking to exercise. The instructor is wonderful! Katie got right down to the girl’s level, exercised with them, corrected them with positioning and always with a positive attitude and smile. Katie is a friendly instructor that explained the importance of each exercise by relating it to hockey for the girls. Katie is a past hockey player so she is aware of the endurance required to be successful first hand. During the summer of 2009, my daughters aged 13, 11 and 8 had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Kid Fit Cardio Athletics program. My daughters all play rep hockey and we were interested in the program as a means of providing some dry land training for them during the summer. It was immediately apparent while observing the first class that this program was going to effectively elevate their fitness levels. During the first session, the girls participated in a fitness evaluation to establish a baseline assessment of their strength, balance, agility and stamina. Over the course of the few weeks the girls thoroughly enjoyed the fitness challenges and activities their instructor, Katie Neve, provided for them. In a motivating, fun and positive manner Katie challenged them to work to their potential. My eldest daughter commented quite frequently how she had never worked-out so hard. The accompanying workout provided some educational and fun activities to help develop an understanding of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle including exercise and nutrition. The girls looked forward to each session and were quite disappointed if other committments prevented them from attending. The enthusiasm that my daugthers had for this program is testament in itself to the quality and effectiveness of this cardio program designed with children in mind. What an amazing task it is to nurture an excitement in young children for getting fit and developing an appreciation for healthy active living.
